My partner and I had a fantastic 3 night stay at Angelique’s villa in Lovina. The villa itself is quiet, spacious and beautifully decorated, wifi connection is good, the pool is enormous and cleaned daily, and it was wonderful being able to watch the sun go down from the daybed on the first floor, which is completely open and offers the most spectacular views over Lovina and the Bali Sea! There are plenty of activities in the area to keep everyone happy, adults and children alike (and Angelique provides a comprehensive brochure of activities and restaurants for the North of Bali which enabled us to make the most of our time there). We took an early morning trip with a local fisherman to sail alongside the famous dolphins on the north coast of Bali, we visited the nearby Buddhist temple and hot springs, and saw the Git Git waterfall which is well worth the visit. With more time, we would have gone to the botanical gardens, looked in to some water sports, and organised some massages with the spa 2 minutes from the villa. The staff present at the villa were polite and generous – they served us delicious breakfasts every morning (and can prepare lunches and dinners too if you wish), kept the villa spotless, helped us with laundry, and were on hand for organising activities or restaurant reservations. A bonus was that the first night’s dinner & breakfast were included in the rate which was great for us as we arrived late after our boat journey. Due to the location of the villa up the mountain it was necessary to use a driver everywhere, even just to Lovina town where we tried the restaurants the other 2 nights. Bob the driver for the villa has brilliant English and was very knowledgable on the area. The only negative is that his company’s prices were expensive in comparison to other drivers – for example, he charged 150k rupiah for a return trip to Lovina town (which takes less than 10mins each way), but we booked another driver one evening for the same trip for 100k rupiah, so I would recommend asking the local restaurants to organise your transport in the evenings (some even do it for free). Pricing was unclear at times as well – the price quoted to collect us from Padang Bai port on our date of arrival was 700k, it was also 700k for the journey to/from the airport in Denpasar, but the price quoted to leave us to Ubud on our date of departure was 650k, despite Ubud being much closer to the villa. However, in Angelique’s absence, Bob was very accommodating to our request to have a late check out before we made our onward journey. Overall the villa provided pure luxury at a great price and is located in an area which offers loads to suit couples or families – would highly recommend!
